On Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, Google rolled out a new look for call-only ads. The benefit of this new look is to help drive higher quality leads.
The new call-only ad layout displays the business’ phone number at the top. This time, the business name and headlines is placed below the phone number in smaller text.

As you can see from the image, the phone number is prominently displayed on the call-only ad.
According to Google, so far this new design has had a positive impact on phone calls and conversions while driving costs down:
“On average, advertisers with the new call-only ads design have seen a 14% increase in phone calls, a 16% increase in call conversions and better cost efficiencies with an 8% decrease in overall paid clicks. The new look helps call-only ads stand out from other text ads, reducing accidental clicks from users who didn’t intend to make a call.”
Current running call-only ads have already been automatically updated to reflect this change.
